The purpose of this website is to educate on the topic of mothers who are imprisoned and how their families are affected by it. I ask the question: how are mothers’ unique needs met while they are in prison? How can we make a more equitable justice system that works to support mothers?
A note on the word mother
In this context, the word mother will be used to refer to those who are placed in a women’s correctional facility and are also their child’s main caregiver.
